La Habra replaces Espy in my county football poll

October 27th, 2008, 8:44 am by DAN ALBANO, ocvarsity.com

I must be feeling confident about who's the best football team in the county when I'm writing about ... my No. 10.

In my voting this for the county rankings, I welcome back the La Habra Highlanders and San Diego State-commit Ronnie Hillman (left) to my top-10, replacing Esperanza. Matt Barkley overrated? Not even close

October 3rd, 2008, 11:00 am by Damian Calhoun, OCVarsity.com since 2004

Mater Dei quarterback Matt Barkley began his senior season with four interceptions in a nationally televised prime-time game against Carson.

Not long after Veterans Stadium in Long Beach had been emptied of spectators on that Sept. 3 evening, the Internet was buzzing about Barkley’s performance.

Some went so far as to say that the 2007 Gatorade national player of the year and future USC quarterback was all hype.

Not so fast.
