Servite's Cody Fajardo, a senior this fall, is the county QB on "The Ride," a reality show that will air this fall on a local Fox Sports outlet and on other Fox channels nationwide.

Taping for the 10-episode, half-hour program concluded earlier this summer.

Fajardo and the others work with different quarterback coaches, including Tom Martinez, who tutors New England's Tom Brady, and former NFL star QB and current ESPN broadcaster Ron Jaworski.

"The Ride" has been described by a show executive as the "American Idol" of sports. The first-place prize is that roster slot for the nationally televised U.S. Army game, which has grown substantially in popularity the past couple of years.

My understanding from Servite folks is that the show's producers and staff did this show the right way, so these high school kids weren't thrust into potentially embarrassing situations.

It's an inexpensive production, too -- the stars can't get paid.

The game will be broadcast on KNBC/4.

Bridgford, who led the county in passing yards (3,058) and touchdowns (37), has also been nominated for the "Glenn Davis Award." The award recognizes the player of the year from the West for the 2008 season.

Mission Viejo quarterback Allan Bridgford has been selected to the U.S. Army All-American Bowl on Jan. 3. The Cal-commit tossed five more TDs on Friday to raise his total to a school-record 35.
