The senior has been undergoing treatment this week in hopes that he could face the Lancers, but he has not been able to practice.

Wilkerson, who has committed to Stanford, has rushed for more than 300 yards in each of Tustin's first two games this season. He has scored a county-leading 11 touchdowns.

"And when they don't practice they don't play. It's just not fair to the kid," Miller said. "We have other running backs, and one of them is going to have to come up big."

Miller said the running back duties would be shared Friday by Romel Lilly, Avery Lynch and A.J. Rafter.

Wilkerson said it came down to Stanford and UCLA.

Here are some of his text messages tonight:

"I lowered my list down to UCLA and Stanford and I just kind of wanted to get it out of the way and not josh around with coaches anymore if I know where I'm going to go, so now I'm a Cardinal!!"

Wilkerson has long been high on Stanford. His uncle, Marc Davis, played football and baseball at Stanford.

Wilkerson is the second first-team All-County player to commit to Stanford. Edison linebacker Jordan Zumwalt also has committed to the Cardinal.

That's just a heck of a 1-2 punch, and don't forget: Josh Quezada of La Habra also has been offered by Stanford, which appears to be putting together a great recruiting class.

"We have a lot of commits right now," Wilkerson said in a phone interview.

Wilkerson (6-0, 210) is planning two trips to Palo Alto, but the Cardinal have some competition for the back, who has been compared to Tustin great and NFL veteran DeShaun Foster.

Wilkerson plans to attend Stanford's Junior Day in late February. In late January, he plans to visit the school unofficially with his uncle, Marc Davis, who played baseball at Stanford.

Of the offer from Stanford, Wilkerson said: "Good news. That's one of the top schools I'm looking at."

Wilkerson said Stanford offered the week after the CIF-SS Southwest Division final. That same week, USC's Pete Carroll was among the coaches who visited Wilkerson at Tustin. Cal also made an on-campus visit.

Wilkerson said he also is interested in UCLA and Oklahoma. He said the Sooners are sending him a steady flow of letters.

Wilkerson carries a 3.8 grade-point average and is currently playing basketball for Tustin.

I think Tustin coach Myron Miller has brought Wilkerson along very nicely. The kid is going to be even more amazing next season.

SOUTHWEST DIVISION CHAMPIONSHIP GAME

Tustin (9-4) vs. La Habra (11-2)

Saturday, 2 p.m., at Angel Stadium

Outlook: With Ronnie Hillman, Joshua Quezada, Anthony Wilkerson and Ameer Webb on the field, this is likely to resemble a track meet.

In fact, at the rate that Tustin is scoring, La Habra might be hard-pressed to keep up. Tustin has scored 188 points in its three playoff games. Wilkerson has rushed for 639 yards in those three games.

La Habra gave up a ton of yards, 469 to be exact, in its semifinal game against Trabuco Hills. The Highlanders allowed 217 rushing. That’s not a good sign, especially when you have to face Double Wing T.

One thing that La Habra will have going for it will be the passing game, led by quarterback Randall Nygren. The Highlanders have struggled with the pass in previous games, so the key could be Nygren.

Then again, teams have been so far behind the Tillers in recent weeks that they have had to start passing by the second quarter. Nygren has completed 58.6 percent of his passes (112 of 191) for 1,645 yards and 23 touchdowns.

Quezada rushed for 207 yards last week and Hillman posted 120. They have combined for 2,672 rushing yards this season. Can this duo be stopped?

Wilkerson and Webb have combined for 3,190 yards. Can they be stopped?

This is going to be a wild game.
