What happened: Troy goalie Katie Rumfola blocked two of four kicks in the overtime shootout period and the Warriors defeated Fullerton, 4-2, in penalty kicks after playing to a 1-1 tie in Tuesday's CIF-SS Division III semifinal in front of an estimated 500 spectators at Troy High School.
The game was scoreless at the half.
You might remember Austin Niklas, a defensive player of the year in the Serra League for two years and All-County first-team at linebacker for the Friars.
He was quite the search-and-destroy sort of linebacker that are so much fun to watch.
Servite sophomore Troy Niklas, Austin's younger brother, could be just as good. Troy is 6-foot-5 and 220, and he can run and he can hit.
People who have seen him go describe his athleticism as abnormal for any player but especially so for a sophomore.
