Pronier, who graduated from SCHS, took over the program in 1987-88.

His coaching career began well, as Pronier led the Tritons to a 9-1-1 preseason record.

Then the team started South Coast League play, and lost all 10 games. Pronier called it a rude awakening.

"It was a lesson in humility," Pronier said. "It was a great learning experience for me. That's how it all started."

When he began he felt like he would coach for about five seasons then move on. However, Pronier said every few years a team comes along and re-energizes him.

"I was a little burnt out five or six years ago," he said, "but then a group of kids got me fired up. Since then we have been on a great run. We've taken second four years in a row. It's motivation of trying to win and make kids successful that keep me going."

Pronier's career record stands at 228-171-101. He said he thinks a lot about the ties, more than he does the wins or losses. He said early on in his career, the South Coast was so strong, that earning ties was a big accomplishment for his team.

"I look back at think did I coach wins into ties, or did I coach losses into ties," he said. "That's what I reflect on.

"When you look at it all, it's hard to believe it's gone by so quickly."

WEEK 5 – OCT 10

LA HABRA VS. SAN CLEMENTE
AT SAN CLEMENTE HIGH

This is another dream matchup, and for the same reasons that make Tesoro-El Dorado so interesting. La Habra won a CIF-SS championship last year, and one of the reasons the Highlanders did so is back – Ronnie Hillman. Hillman was CIF-SS Southeast Division and Freeway League player of the year in 2007, when collected more than 2,000 all-purpose yards. He is listed as a receiver on the Highlanders' depth chart, but they move him all over the field to find ways to get him the football. Hillman also is a dynamite kick returner. Also returning for La Habra are some top defensive players like end Jake Peppard and linebacker Joseph Casey. San Clemente has been a consistent winner for years, and is always a factor in the very challenging South Coast League. The Tritons should be fun to watch offensively. Quarterback Duke Delancelotti is a playmaker running or throwing the football, and he has a fine receiver in Graham Tenney. The Tritons will be typically quick on defense, too. This game features the northernmost school in the county against the southernmost school. You can't get more north county vs. south county than this. These schools also have very loyal followings, too, so there will be a big crowd which only makes it even more fun.
