The Monarchs, ranked No. 1 in the nation by USA Today, simply run over anything in their way.

Friday night was a great example of this as the Monarchs were hardly fazed by having to play a league rival in a challenging enviroment. The Monarchs, the top-ranked team in the county, dominated from start to finish as they defeated Servite, 101-71, in the Trinity League opener for both teams at Servite.

Playing in the Friars' gym has been known to unsettle visitors, but the Monarchs had little trouble as they improved their record to 15-0.

(Click here to see a video of the game's highlights.)

Led by the tall and talented brother duo of Travis and David Wear, the Monarchs seized control in the first quarter by building a 24-8 lead then basically decided the outcome by extending their edge to 47-25 at halftime.

David Wear finished with a game-high 22 points to go with nine rebounds, while Travis Wear added 20 points and 11 rebounds.

Tyler Lamb (14 points), Gary Franklin (14 points, three 3-pointers) and Andy Brown (nine points) also made key contributions to the victorious effort. Mater Dei had 13 players who scored in the game.

Joe Dzida (17 points) and Chris Urell (13 points) led the way for Servite.
