Girls soccer: the new Top 10 with explanations

Here is a look at this week's Top 10 and my explanations for the picks:

1. Esperanza (6-0-0): The Aztecs have come out of the gate strong, allowing only three goals and defeating quality squads from El Toro and Los Alamitos.

2. Aliso Niguel (6-0-1): The Wolverines have shown the ability to win close games, winning four of their six games by one goal.

3. San Clemente (6-1-0): Despite a tough 1-0 loss to Newport Harbor,  the Tritons appear to be one of the best defensive teams in the county, allowing only three goals in seven games.

Football: Tesoro enjoying ride at No. 1

It has been four weeks since Tesoro defeated Mission Viejo and took over the county's top ranking.

The Titans close their regular season at Dana Hills tonight at 7 p.m. With a victory, the Titans earn their second consecutive South Coast League championship, along with an undefeated record of 10-0.
