The top games on the Week 6 schedule:

No. 7 Dana Hills (4-1) vs. No. 12 Tesoro (3-2)
Friday, at Tesoro High, 7 p.m.

Outlook: The race to fill the South Coast League playoff spots looks to be an interesting one.

If Mission Viejo is indeed the stone-cold favorite, then you have the Dolphins, Titans and San Clemente fighting for the other two playoff spots.

Remember, the Titans are the two-time defending league champion, so they’re not going to down without a fight.

The Dolphins have played their way in the county’s top 10 after an impressive start with victories over Top 20 teams Santa Margarita, El Toro and Santa Margarita.

They led Edison at halftime and closed the nonleague season with a 57-0 victory over El Modena.

Now, can they carry over that momentum into league?

Quarterback Josh Dean has completed 67 of 101 passes (66.3 percent) for 814 yards, nine touchdowns and just two interceptions.

There is balance in the ground game, led Brandon Howe’s 326 yards and three receivers with at 230 receiving yards.

Tesoro started 0-2, but has found their identity recently, winning three consecutive games.

Quarterback Brett Mason has completed 63.6 percent of his passes during the winning streak.

Can he continue this level of play against the Dolphins’ defense?

The Titans close their regular season at Dana Hills tonight at 7 p.m. With a victory, the Titans earn their second consecutive South Coast League championship, along with an undefeated record of 10-0.

Here are some comments from Tesoro coach Brian Barnes:

On being ranked No. 1: "It's exciting. It's the first time in school history. We're hoping to stay there. We still have a long way to go. It's where you finish."

On facing the upset-minded Dolphins tonight: "It's going to be a tough game. They are a good football team. They are a play or two away in some of their loses. Their offense is tremendous. They make a lot of plays. They are dangerous because they can score."

On his team's health a week before the playoffs: "We are pretty dang healthy. That's good for this time of year. For the most part, we are real healthy."

On the difference of carrying the No. 1 ranking: "We are going about our business as usual. The ranking is a nice thought, but we aren't even worried about it. It's an honor to be there, but we foucs on winning the next game."
