Less than a week after winning the South Coast League doubles championship, Dana Hills junior Taylor Nederlander was declared ineligible, a CIF-Southern Section spokesman confirmed Tuesday.
Nederlander, an All-County selection in 2010, transferred to Dana Hills from Laguna Beach prior to the school year and received approval to play varsity matches Oct. 20. Top-ranked Dana Hills will have to forfeit the one league match in which Nederlander played, a 14-4 win over Capistrano Valley on Oct. 25.
Nederlander and Dana Hills junior Jessica Perez defeated Dana Hills’ Margo Pletcher and Cassidy Spearman in the South Coast League finals. Both teams were set to represent the league in the CIF-SS individual championships, but Nederlander is ineligible to play.
Each league is responsible for submitting two doubles teams and two singles players to the CIF-SS individual tournament, and as of now, the SCL hasn’t reached a decision.
CIF spokesman Thom Simmons said Dana Hills investigated Nederlander’s reported residence and determined it wasn’t certain that Nederlander was residing where she said she was.
