Girls water polo recruiting: Sunny Hills’ Lundy to visit Virginia Military Inst.

June 4th, 2013, 1:02 pm by

Sunny Hills girls water polo player Cecilya Lundy — one of Orange County’s under-the-radar recruits — will be visiting Virginia Military Institute later this month.

Lundy, a strong-armed attacker, racked up 109 goals last season to help the Lancers reach the CIF Division 4 quarterfinals, where they fell to eventual division runner-up La Serna of Whittier.

VMI is an improving, second-year program from the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference that made recruiting news a few years ago by signing former San Clemente standout Celine Lazzaro. The program also has added Pacifica’s Molly Andoe (Golden West College).

Softball: Sunny Hills vs. Troy Live Blog Remix

April 18th, 2013, 8:38 pm by

I did a live blog for the Sunny Hills-Troy game on Thursday at Troy High. Here’s how it all went down:

LIVE FROM TROY HIGH

I have the Mobile OCVarsity Press Row set up at Troy High for the Freeway League showdown between Sunny Hills (11-7, 3-0) and Troy (14-4, 3-0). Sole possession of first place in league is at stake. The Freeway League title is always a battle down to the wire.

Here we go.

Sunny Hills is not messing around in the top of the first.

Nebraska-bound Marjani Knighten leads off the game with a single and steal second.

Madi Cruse with a grounder to short and they try to get MJ at third … No way! MJ is way to fast and everybody is safe.

MJ’s lil’ sis, Marshaylee Knighten, who has committed to Oklahoma, singles to drive in her big sis.

Amber Elliott flies out. One down.

Jennifer Brubaker singles and … THE BASES ARE JUICED!!!

Sarah Wilson delivers an RBI single and … THE BASES ARE STILL JUICED!!!
