The CIF State Bowl games had divisions based solely upon enrollment. Starting this season, competitive equity will be part of the selections of which teams play in which bowl games and specific CIF-Southern Section playoff divisions fall within specific state divisions.
There will be four divisional state bowl games: the open division, with what are judged by the CIF State’s 10 section commissioners to be the best team from the north and the best from the south, regardless of division or enrollment; Division 1 (CIF-Southern Section Pac-5, Inland and Norther Division champions would be in the running to represent the South here); Division 2 (CIF-SS Central, Southwest, Western, Eastern and Southeast champs would vie to be South representative here); and Division 3 (the CIF-SS Mid-Valley, Northeast, Northwest, Southern and East Valley division champions would be the candidates to be the South team here).
Teams must be section division champions to be eligible for a bowl berth.
