Mater Dei hit seven 3-point shots in the 1st quarter, propelling them to an easy 86-71 victory over St. John Bosco.
The Monarchs Katin Reinhardt finished with 22 points in the game, hitting a number of NBA range treys in the 1st quarter, while teammate Xavier Johnson scored 23 points, despite both being ill throughout the week.

We posted some information earlier this week regarding Friday’s Mater Dei at St. John Bosco boys basketball game.
Again, tip is 7 p.m.
Everybody expects a sellout. Ticket booth opens at 4 p.m. Once the gym is full, the doors will close.
St. John Bosco used a strong second half to pull away and beat Orange Lutheran, 48-28, on Friday night.

Outlook: St. John Bosco lost to Servite, 35-27, last week in a game in which Bosco had a seven-point lead in the third quarter. Bosco is led by star receiver Bryce Treggs, a senior has 47 receptions for 962 yards and nine touchdowns. He has committed to Cal.

I vote each week on the CIF-Southern Section rankings for 11-man football divisions.
There are 13 divisions. I vote in only three divisions — Southern, Southwest and Pac-5 — because those are the divisions in which I feel I best informed.
I won’t vote on, say, the Central or Inland divisions that have no Orange County teams, or the East Valley Division in which there are only a couple of OC teams.
How I voted on the Pac-5 top 10 this week …
Atlanta vs. Jacksonville, today at 5 p.m. on Fox/11 … two former La Habra All-CIF guys are playing i that one … Matt Estrada, safety, for Jacksonville and Ryan Winterswyke, tight end, for Atlanta.
La Habra football keeps growing … four straight CIF titles coming into this year, a couple of guys in the NFL — and a tough nonleague sked this year with games vs. Trinity Leaguers OLu, Servite and St. John Bosco.
Also on the Jags roster — former Brea Olinda TE Tommy Gallarda, who like Ryan W played at Boise State.

Isaac and Daniel Hamilton, who are brothers, have enrolled at St. John Bosco of Bellflower, according this post on the L.A. Times high school sports blog.
The Hamiltons were at Crenshaw of L.A. last year. Isaac averaged 20 points a game and was All-City as a sophomore. Daniel averaged 10 points as a freshman.
The brothers do not yet have athletic eligibility at St. John Bosco, according to the CIF-Southern Section website’s list of transfer approvals.
