Irvine softball coach Mandy Tucker said Tuesday she has resigned after two seasons with the Vaqueros. Tucker helped lead the Vaqueros into the semifinal round of the CIF Division 2 playoffs.
Irvine was 40-16 the past two years under Tucker.

Irvine’s softball team rallied with two runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to defeat Long Beach Wilson, 2-1, in the quarterfinal round of the CIF-SS Division 2 playoffs today at Heritage Park in Irvine.
The Vaqueros advance into the semifinals for the first time sine 1998.
Irvine will meet the Adolfo-Camarillo Tuesday at 3:15 p.m. Coach Mandy Tucker said she has learned the Adolfo-Camarillo defeated Valley View, 9-0, today.
The Vaqueros lost the coin flip so will be on the road.
If they win Tuesday, Irvine would advance to the Division 2 finals either Friday or Saturday at Deanna Manning Stadium in Irvine. Read the rest of this entry »
No. 8 El Modena defeated Woodbridge, 8-3, in the fifth place game of the Woodbridge Classic this afternoon at Bill Barber Park in Irvine.
The Vanguards (11-4-1) moved out to an 8-0 lead before Woodbridge (9-9) scored three runs in the bottom of the seventh on a triple by Kayla Clausen. Clausen was thrown out going for a grand slam.
Reliever Maddy Neales, who came on to pitch in the sixth inning, got the final out to preserve the victory.
El Modena banged out 11 hits off Woodbridge pitcher Danica Bishop.
The Vanguards scored two runs in the first inning, then added two more in the fifth on a two-run home run by Alyson Kulp.
El Modena broke the game open with four runs in the top of the seventh, three coming on a home run by Devin Vanderhoff.
Kulp was 2 for 4 with two RBI and two runs scored.
Victoria Zamora was 2 for 4 with an RBI and a run scored for El Modena.
Haylie Wagner, who pitched the first three innings before giving way to Samantha Mazza, got the win. Read the rest of this entry »
