Former Costa Mesa High star Sharon Day will make another appearance at the Olympics.
It will be the second appearance on the Olympic stage for Day, who was a high jumper on the U.S. team in the 2008 Olympics.
Day was one of the county’s most celebrated high school track and field athletes during her career at Costa Mesa. She won the CIF state high jump title in 2002 and 2003 and is the county and CIF Southern Section all-time high jump record holder. She set both marks by clearing 6 feet, two inches at the Trabuco Hills Invitational on April 5, 2003. It was the top clearance in the nation that season.
