Softball: Segerstrom vs. Loara Live Blog Remix

April 26th, 2013, 9:16 pm by

I did a live blog from Loara High on Thursday where Segerstrom and Loara went at it in an important Golden West League game. Here’s how it all went down:

LIVE FROM LOARA HIGH

I have the Mobile OCVarsity Press Row set up at Loara High for the Golden West League showdown between Segerstrom (15-5, 4-1) and Loara (15-6, 4-1), who are currently tied for first place with Ocean View (16-3, 4-1).

Loara, Segerstrom and Ocean View are ranked No. 2, No. 3 and No. 4, respectively in Division 4.

Loaea beat Segerstrom, 1-0, on April 9, but lost to Ocean View, 4-0, on Wednesday. Segerstrom beat Ocean View, 5-0, the first time around. This league title-race is going down to the wire.

OK, let’s get to this Segerstrom-Loara rematch.

Alejandra Morales leads off the top of the first with a single for the Jaguars.

She steals second on the first pitch.

Desi Lopez pops out trying to get a sacrifice down.

Ananel mendez singles up the middle to drive in Morales from second for a 1-0 lead.

Dany Espinoza flies out to right and Mendez gets doubled off at first to end the inning.

Segerstrom lefty Ashley Ramirez strikes out the side for a 1-2-3 inning to retire the Saxons.

Segerstrom 1, Loara 0 after 1 inning.

Fryer on football: Woodbridge vs. Segerstrom

September 19th, 2012, 7:33 pm by

WOODBRIDGE (2-1) VS. SEGERSTROM (4-0)

Where, when: Segerstrom High, Friday, 7 p.m.

Outlook: This game will be remembered in November, when seedings are made for the CIF-Southern Section’s Southern Division playoffs. Segerstrom is ranked No. 1 in the division. Woodbridge is No. 3, behind Irvine.

Woodbridge beat Lancaster and Garden Grove before losing last week to Capistrano Valley, 42-29. That’s not terrible.

Capistrano Valley is 3-1 and will be a contender in the Sea View League, which overall is a better league than the Pacific Coast League, to which Woodbridge belongs.

May 9th, 2012, 8:40 pm by

I did a live blog for the Segerstrom vs. Ocean View showdown for the Golden West League title on Wednesday at Ocean View High. Here’s how it all went down:

LIVE FROM OCEAN VIEW HIGH

I have the Mobile OCVarsity Press Row set up at Ocean View High today where Segerstrom and Ocean View are clashing for the Golden West League championship.

Segerstrom beat Ocean View, 6-2, in the Costa Mesa Tournament, but Ocean View came back and beat Segerstrom, 2-1, in league where it counts. The third meeting will decide the Golden West League champion.

Segerstrom has Long Beach State-bound Selene Pola in the circle and Ocean View counters with Hawaii-bound Brittany Hitchcock. Both are also outstanding hitters. Segerstrom is ranked No. 4 in Division 4 and Ocean View is No. 8.

No time for much of a preview. IT’S TIME TO PLAY THE GAME!!!!.
