Boys volleyball: Tuesday’s roundup (4/19/11)

Here is a roundup of the action from Monday night:

In the Academy League
St. Margaret’s 3, Crean Lutheran 2:
Arya Amirhekmat had 20 kills, Zach Stoddard had 15 and Nick Adams 14 as the Tartans defeated Crean Lutheran, 21-25, 25-12, 25-22, 21-25, 15-8.

Oliver O’Donnell had 55 assists for St. Margaret’s.

Girls track and field: O.C.C. distance athlete of the meet: Katherine Delaney

JSerra senior Katherine Delaney was named the distance athlete of the meet Saturday at the 2011 Orange County Championships.

Delaney won the 1,600 title with a lifetime best of 4:50.98. She now has the top time in the state this season and the third best time in the country.

JSerra wins in bottom of 7th

Clay Williamson’s single up the middle drove in Trent Boras and Austin Hedges to give JSerra a 5-4 victory over El Toro in the Anaheim Lions Tournament championship game. Williamson was tournament MVP.

JSerra trailed, 4-0. JSerra’s Lions won the Newport Elks Tournament’s Frank Lerner bracket last month.
