Football recruiting: Santa Margarita’s Sorenson has a decision

Santa Margarita offensive lineman Riley Sorenson (6-4, 325) has committed to Washington State, the senior said in a text message Monday night.

Sorenson joins Santa Margarita wide receiver River Cracraft as Washington State commit.

He plans to sign his letter of intent with the Cougars on Wednesday, National Signing Day.

Sorenson visited the Pac-12 school in the spring on an unofficial trip. He hasn’t made any official recruiting trips.

Tough Knocks – Santa Margarita: Stunning loss

In Episode 8 of “Tough Knocks,” undefeated Santa Margarita is getting ready for the start of play in the tough Trinity League. Wide receiver River Cracraft is making progress in his recovery from an injury, but he is not yet ready to rejoin the team.

On the field, the Eagles struggle on offense and end up losing to Mater Dei for their first loss of the season.

Tough Knocks – Santa Margarita: Passion pays off

In Episode 7 of “Tough Knocks,” kicker John McGrory recaps breaking the all-time CIF-SS record for making consecutive PATs. There are also interviews with some of the Eagles’ top players, including USC commit Max Tuerk, Riley Sorenson and defensive end Chris Frost.

During their bye week, the Eagles spend some time recovering from what has already been a tough season, but they also begin to study film, practice and prepare for their Trinity League opener this week against Mater Dei.

Football: Sights, results from linemen competitions

Some of Orange County’s top offensive linemen – including San Clemente’s Kyle Murphy and USC commit Max Tuerk of Santa Margarita — shined at the Saddleback College linemen slideshow competition earlier this month. Check out thisfrom the competition, which featured the above celebration by Mission Viejo after it defeated Santa Margarita in the tug-of-war.

Dana Hills finished tied for second overall at Saddleback College but came back to capture the Fountain Valley linemen competition July 20.

Santa Margarita offensive tackles Max Tuerk, a junior, and Riley Sorenson, a sophomore, both have landed scholarship offers, Eagles coach Harry Welch said Friday night.
