Garden Grove League: 2012 Rancho Alamitos football schedule

Here is the 2012 football schedule for Rancho Alamitos.

Schedules are subject to change. All games are scheduled for 7 p.m. unless noted.

Girls basketball: Garden Grove League showdown on Wednesday

Los Amigos and Rancho Alamitos shared the Garden Grove League girls basketball title last season. The Lobos beat the Vaqueros at Rancho Alamitos and the Vaqueros beat the Lobos in their home gym.

Los Amigos and Rancho Alamitos enter Wednesday’s showdown at 6 p.m. at Los Amigos High with identical records. Both teams are 10-7 overall and 4-0 in league. First place is on the line.

OCVarsity Gridiron: League championships (video)

Steve Fryer, Dan Albano, and Carlos Arias travel to Rancho Alamitos to preview the biggest matchups heading into Week 10:

  • Who will take the Trinity title between Servite and Santa Margarita?
  • Can Tesoro upset San Clemente?
  • Does Beckman have enough for CDM?
  • Who will take the Garden Grove league as undefeated Rancho Alamitos and Los Amigos?

Also, interviews with Rancho Alamitos head coach Mike Enright, quarterback Lincoln Faletoi, and running back Brett Hurley.

Fryer’s Southern Division vote

Sportswriters are invited to vote in the CIF-Southern Section rankings of its 13 11-man football divisions. I only vote in the Pac-5, Southwest and Southern Divisions, per my choice as those are the divisions with which I have enough knowledge to make an informed vote.

Of course, I know some of you will say I should not vote on any divisions …

Fryer on football: Rancho Alamitos vs. Sonora

RANCHO ALAMITOS (3-0) VS. SONORA (1-3)
Where, when: La Habra High, Friday, 7 p.m.

Outlook: Rancho Alamitos, which spent much of the 1990s at or near the top of the Garden Grove League, is off to its best start in years. Ah, but the Vaqueros really have not played a challenging team – until this game.

Baseball: Division 3 Breakdown

1. Bonita of La Verne: The Bearcats (24-4) lost by one run to Ocean View in last year’s Division 3 championship game.
2. Quartz Hill: The Rebels (23-4) coached by former Ocean View coach Aaron Kavanaugh, went 13-1 in the Golden League.
