OK, so this isn't as dramatic as the five-way Sunset League tie, but there is chaos in our staff contest here at OCVarsity.com. And who is to blame (besides me for picking Tustin)...The L.A. City Section.

For some reason, Tha City, doesn't believe in playing overtime for its finals and guess what happened, that's right, San Pedro scored touchdown as time expired and they went for the extra point to grab a share of the title.

The repercussions were felt all the way down here. There are three (myself, Eichelberger and Chris Tobolski) tied at 17-6-1, Carlos Arias is at 16-7-1 and Danny St. Albano is 15-8-1. ...So, the show must go on for one more week.

stay tuned and start researching those Northern California teams

I have a one game lead over devoted South Coast League fan Jason Eichelberger as our staff contest here at OCVarsity.com heads into the final week of the playoffs.

I have a decision to make. Should I try and block him and select the same games and try to protect my lead? Or should I try and go out in a blaze of glory? If I capture the playoff title, I will be holding a press conference at Angel Stadium when all of our work is done Saturday night.

Now, the picks ....

FINALS LINEUP

Mayfair-Laguna Hills

Tustin-La Habra

St. Margaret's-29 Palms

Long Beach Poly-Tesoro

Narbonne-San Pedro

TOBOLSKI (12-6, 4-2 LW)

Laguna Hills, La Habra, St. Albano's, Long Beach Poly, San Pedro, Centennial

Comment: This contest is rigged. Anytime the organizer is also the leader, I wonder?

BURT (10-8, 4-2 LW)

Laguna Hills, Tustin, St. Margaret's, Tesoro, San Pedro, Centennial

KAY (9-9, 5-1 LW)

Laguna Hills, La Habra, St. Margaret's, Tesoro, Narbonne, Centennial

Jason Eichelberger, Jon Kay and myself nailed all eight games.

Our winners were: Garden Grove, El Dorado, Western, Los Alamitos, Mission Viejo, Mater Dei, Edison and La Habra. My perfect week moves me into a first-place tie with Steve Fryer at 51-21. Wish me luck.

Dan Albano and Steve Fryer went 7-1, Erlina Tulabut picked six of eight and Carlos and his dog Buster went 2-6. Ouch! The only saving grace for Buster is that the playoffs are starting in two weeks.

The standings after Week 9

1T. Calhoun and Fryer, 51-21

3. Eichelberger 47-25

4T. Albano, Kay 46-26

6. Tulabut 45-27

7. Carlos and Buster 39-33

Check back Thursday for this week's lineup and picks.
