We’re into the final, final week of our staff contest here at OCVarsity.com. I could have wrapped things up last week, but I didn’t and I’m not going to dwell on the past. There’s a three-way tie for the first between myself, Jason Eichelberger and Chris Tobolski. Someone will win …I hope.
Now, the picks …
OK, so this isn’t as dramatic as the five-way Sunset League tie, but there is chaos in our staff contest here at OCVarsity.com. And who is to blame (besides me for picking Tustin)…The L.A. City Section.
I have a one game lead over devoted South Coast League fan Jason Eichelberger as our staff contest here at OCVarsity.com heads into the final week of the playoffs.
I have a decision to make. Should I try and block him and select the same games and try to protect my lead? Or should I try and go out in a blaze of glory? If I capture the playoff title, I will be holding a press conference at Angel Stadium when all of our work is done Saturday night.
Now, the picks ….
That’s the question everybody in the county wants to know. There is a select who would love for him to pick their team to win, the majority, however, know better.
We’re into the semifinal round of staff contest here at OCVarsity.com. The playoff title is up for grabs. I’m tied for first with Jason Eichelberger.
Now, the picks and the moment everybody has been waiting for …
We had some surpises in the CIF-SS playoffs during the first week, but not any in the staff contest here at OCVaristy.com. After the first week, I’m in first place at 5-1, thanks to the Canyon Comanches. Yes, I was the only to pick Canyon in its first round game against Cypress (if you don’t believe me, click here). Now, we’re moving onto the quarterfinals. Our playoffs lives are hanging in the balance.
Now, the picks …
The regular season is over and now we’re taking our staff picks contest into the playoffs here at OCVarsity.com. By now, you’re aware that yours truly wrapped up the regular season title on the final night (talk about drama). I was able to enjoy my title for a few moments, but now we’re starting the playoffs.
The stakes are higher.
Now, onto the picks …
Me
Thanks to a 5-3 week, I was able to wrestle away the regular season title from Steve Fryer. The deciding picks turned out to be the Santiago-Los Amigos and Newport Harbor-Los Alamitos games. I picked the Sailors and the Cavaliers.
Now, we’re moving on to the playoffs.
As the regular season champ and commish of this little contest of ours, I would like to extend an invitation to you my trusted reader. If nobody responds, then we’re moving on.

We’re finally in the final week of the regular season of our staff football picks contest here at OCVarsity.com … (Hold your applause). There is currently a tie for first place between myself and Steve “The Franchise” Fryer.
It is never wise to go against Fryer or get on his bad side, but I’m taking him down. There is no tomorrow. You can’t win the title by sitting on the sideline and holding the clipboard.

The playoffs are approaching and some of the contestants in our weekly staff football picks contest here at OCVarsity.com are finally hitting their stride. There were three who correctly picked all eight games last week.
Carlos Arias’ bid to repeat as champion of the OCVarsity.com staff football picks contest has officially gone to the dogs. This is indeed sad times for the once proud champion.
We’re onto Week 9 and just like many of the county leagues, our championship has yet to be decided.
