1. San Clemente QB Chase Rettig

Rettig (Boston College) completed 18 of 29 passes for 291 yards and four touchdowns to lead the Tritons to a 34-28 victory over Tesoro Thursday night. He also rushed for 46 yards in the victory.

2. Akeelie Muhammad (Cypress RB)/Anthony Wilkerson (Tustin RB)

The race is on in the county touchdown race. Muhammad put up five Thursday night, then Wilkerson answered back with four. They are now tied with 26.

3. Chris Nicholls, Servite

Nicholls gained 235 total yards (157 receiving, 78 rushing) and scored three touchdowns in Servite's 48-26 victory over Santa Margarita.

Servite QB Cody Fajardo

Fajardo completed 10 of 12 passes for 150 yards and two touchdowns and he rushed for 131 yards and another score in Servite's 30-20 victory over Mater Dei. The victory ended Servite's 20-game winless streak against Mater Dei.

Orange Lutheran QB Mike Markovsky

Markovsky, who has been filling in for the sick and injured starting quarterback Bobby Wheatley, had his best night in the biggest game Friday night. Markovsky, a junior, completed 17 of 21 passes for 238 yards and three touchdowns. He also rushed for a score in the Lancers' 28-25 victory.

Markovsky engineered the winning drive, going 78 yards, ending with a 6-yard touchdown pass to Brandon Turner with 15 seconds left.

Quezada rushed for 249 yards and three touchdowns and the two-point conversion with nine seconds remaining to lead the tenth-ranked Highlanders to a 29-28 victory over No. 8 San Clemente.

Fountain Valley RB Kyle Middlebrooks

Middlebrooks rushed for 270 yards, 11 short of the school record, and scored four touchdowns in a 42-14 nonleague victory over Scripps Ranch. Middlebrooks scored on runs of  4, 48, 49 and 9 yards. Middlebrooks has rushed for 762 yards on 105 carries this season for the Barons. He has scored 10 touchdowns.

Edison QB Matt Viles

Viles set a new school record with 457 passing yards in a 34-17 road victory over Dana Hills Thursday. Viles, a senior, completed 24 of 38 passes and 3 touchdowns in the game. Viles had 280 passing yards at halftime.

Wilkerson rushed for 354 yards, falling just 25 yards short of DeShaun Foster's school record of 379, set in 1997. Wilkerson scored on runs of 13, 73, 35, 24 and 50. He also had a 3-yard pass reception for a score. Yes, the opposition has been warned.

Donnie Simonsen, Trabuco Hills, Jr., running back

Simonsen entered the game with 126 rushing yards during the regular season. Friday night, he rushed for 191 yards on 31 carries and the game-winning touchdown with 2:32 to go in the game to lead Trabuco Hills to a 28-21 victory over Western.

Josh Brannon, Pacifica, Sr., running back

Brannon rushed for 171 yards and four touchdowns as the Mariners defeated top-seeded Foothill, 35-7 Friday night. Brannon left his impact on the game in the second half when he scored three touchdowns to turn a 14-7 lead into a rout.

Brannon is the second leading rusher in the county with 2,013 yards.

Joshua Quezada, La Habra, Jr. running back

Quezada rushed for 230 yards on 19 carries and scored two touchdowns (36 and 44 yards in La Habra's victory. With Quezada and Ronnie Hillman leading the way, the Highlanders will be extremely difficult in the playoffs.
