Football: North confident it can break South streak (video)

July 12th, 2011, 6:06 pm by

The O.C. All-Star Football Game kicks off Friday night at Orange Coast College in Costa Mesa, but the fireworks are already starting.

Richardson is no stranger to guarantees. Don’t be fooled by his smile, as he often backs up what he says, and he looked dynamic at practice Tuesday.

Football: North declared favorite by Cox3 announcer

July 11th, 2011, 10:56 pm by

Cox3 play-by-play man and former Los Alamitos standout Kevin Turner, left with headphones, attended the North’s practice Monday at Cypress for the Brea Lions Orange County all-star football game.

Turner will be part of the Cox3/Time Warner broadcast that will start July 15 on Cox3 at 11:30 p.m.

Turner told the players to play with class and to make a strong, final impression with Orange County football fans. It was an important message from the experienced Turner, who played at Arizona State.

He also told the North players that he considers them about a 7 to 10-point favorite in the game. The South, however, has won the last two all-star games and figures to have the size advantage Friday.

So here’s the question:

Who will win Friday's all-star game?

Still, Coach John Shipp ran his South squad through a full practice Wednesday afternoon at his home field behind Fountain Valley High, tightening the spread offense and giving the 4-4 defense a few repetitions in the final full-pads practice.
