Boys water polo: Newport Harbor’s South commits to Cal

December 31st, 2011, 2:30 pm by

Newport Harbor two-time All-County water polo attacker Farrel South has committed to Cal, he said Saturday while attending a match at the Holiday Cup.

South hasn’t taken an official recruiting trip to Cal but has scheduled one for January. The strong-armed senior is an excellent get for the Golden Bears.

South has one of the best shots in high school water polo, plays hard, can step up in the clutch and is a team player. And since he knows several of the players at Cal, look for him to make a smooth transition to the college ranks.

Please send recruiting notes on water polo to Dan Albano at dalbano@ocregister.com
