Softball: Segerstrom vs. Loara Live Blog Remix

April 26th, 2013, 9:16 pm by

I did a live blog from Loara High on Thursday where Segerstrom and Loara went at it in an important Golden West League game. Here’s how it all went down:

LIVE FROM LOARA HIGH

I have the Mobile OCVarsity Press Row set up at Loara High for the Golden West League showdown between Segerstrom (15-5, 4-1) and Loara (15-6, 4-1), who are currently tied for first place with Ocean View (16-3, 4-1).

Loara, Segerstrom and Ocean View are ranked No. 2, No. 3 and No. 4, respectively in Division 4.

Loaea beat Segerstrom, 1-0, on April 9, but lost to Ocean View, 4-0, on Wednesday. Segerstrom beat Ocean View, 5-0, the first time around. This league title-race is going down to the wire.

OK, let’s get to this Segerstrom-Loara rematch.

Alejandra Morales leads off the top of the first with a single for the Jaguars.

She steals second on the first pitch.

Desi Lopez pops out trying to get a sacrifice down.

Ananel mendez singles up the middle to drive in Morales from second for a 1-0 lead.

Dany Espinoza flies out to right and Mendez gets doubled off at first to end the inning.

Segerstrom lefty Ashley Ramirez strikes out the side for a 1-2-3 inning to retire the Saxons.

Segerstrom 1, Loara 0 after 1 inning.

Update on injured Loara player

September 15th, 2012, 12:22 am by

Loara senior football player Federico Bernardino, injured Friday during the Saxons game against Katella at Glover Stadium in Anaheim, was alert and moving all of his fingers and toes when he was taken by ambulance to a hospital as a precautionary measure, Loara coach Dean Lappin said late Friday evening.

Bernardino was injured on a kickoff return in the game, which Katella won, 34-7. The game was delayed while Bernardino received medical attention and was placed in the ambulance. Lappin said Bernardino suffered a concussion.

“He was talking to me while they were working on him,” Lappin said. “He said to me, ‘How’re we doing?’ And I said, ‘What’s more important is how Federico is doing.’”
