Fryer on football: No. 21 Laguna Hills vs. Corona del Mar

August 29th, 2012, 8:00 pm by

NO. 21 LAGUNA HILLS (0-0) VS. CORONA DEL MAR (0-0)

Where, when: Newport Harbor High, Friday, 7 p.m.

Outlook: It has become evident that looking at the number of returning players is a waste of time when trying to evaluate Laguna Hills. That team makes the playoffs almost every year. The Hawks will be in the thick of it in what looks like a very balanced Sea View League.

Final: O’Dowd 62, Laguna Hills 24

March 24th, 2012, 3:15 pm by

Laguna Hills simply was outplayed by a great team. The Hawks played poorly from the outset, with a bunch of early turnovers to fall behind 10-0 and it got worse from there.

Still, a great season for Laguna Hills — a CIF-Southern Section championship, and a run through the Southern California Regionals to get to this state Division 3 final.
