Swim: Tuesday leaderboard (transfers, Capo’s Lorentzen sprint into mix)

March 26th, 2013, 10:55 pm by

There’s two transfers to note in the Tuesday leaderboard. Junior Mike Carmada made his debut for Laguna Hills. He is a transfer from the East Coast, Hawks coach Blake Corbin reports. Carmada blazed to an automatic qualifying time in the 50 and just missed the 100 free.

Then there’s Dana Hills’ sophomore Cassidy Humphrey, who nearly nabbed the automatic Division 1 time in the 500.

But the best swim of day might have been a county-leading 500 for Capo Valley junior Brooke Lorentzen, pictured above. Ella Eastin of Crean narrowly missed the county-leading the breaststroke.

Boys soccer: Laguna Hills’ Brown commits to Colgate

January 21st, 2013, 11:52 am by

Ricky Brown III, the do-everything player for Laguna Hills, has committed to Colgate.

Brown has been playing both goal keeper and forward this season, and he has 12 goals and 8 assists in 17 games.

Now that the Sea View League season is in full swing, he has been playing keeper mostly. Last week he helped the Hawks beat Trabuco Hills, 4-1, and San Juan Hills, 5-0. He finished with three saves against the Mustangs and two saves against the Satllions.

He also held the the No. 1 El Toro to one of its lowest goal-scoring totals of the season as the Chargers edged the Hawks 1-0. That was the first time in 19 games that the Chargers scored less than two goals in a game. Heading into that match, El Toro was averaging three goals a game.
