Girls lacrosse: Los Alamitos still undefeated, still champion

Los Alamitos’ girls lacrosse team left little doubt about which team is the best in Southern California.

The Griffins capped their second consecutive perfect season Friday, defeating North Division champion Redondo Union, 24-7, in the U.S. Lacrosse Southern California Division I finals at Valencia High.

Games of the day, May 5

BASEBALL

JSerra at Mater Dei, 6 p.m.

Orange Lutheran is solidly in first place in the Trinity League, but JSerra and Mater Dei are fighting for the No. 2 spot before the playoffs start. The Monarchs are at home for this one, but the Lions are coming off a nice victory at Santa Margarita and could have some momentum.

GIRLS LACROSSE

No. 4 St. Margaret’s at No. 1 Beckman, at Hicks Canyon Elementary at 4 p.m.

Beckman defeated Aliso Niguel 13-0 in the quarterfinals. St. Margaret’s defeated Tesoro, 11-9. The Patriots and Tartans played earlier in the season with Beckman winning 20-10.

No. 3 Los Alamitos at No. 2 Foothill, 5:30 p.m.

The Knights outscored Mission Viejo 19-12, while the Griffins defeated Trabuco Hills, 20-4.

The winners will advance to county championship Wednesday at 7 p.m. at Trabuco Hills HS.
