El Toro senior Juan Gonzalez added a big early season prize to his 2013 resume Saturday night, as he won the 3,200 at the addias Meet of Champions Distance Classic Saturday at Azusa Pacific University.
Gonzalez crossed the finish line in a time of 9:07.65, the fastest time in the state so far this season and the fifth best time in the nation.
Edison senior Jeff Thies was fifth in a time of 9:13.40, while Trabuco Hills senior Lucas Dorman (9:15.72) was ninth.
In the invitational 1,600, Villa Park junior Garrett Corcoran crossed the finish line second in a time of 4:13.45.
Stockdale’s Blake Haney (4:12.36) won the race and is the new state leader. Brea Olinda freshman Austin Tamagno was fifth in the race with a time of 4:14.62.
