Boys track and field: Oshier finishes second at New Balance Outdoor Nationals

Trabuco Hills senior Jantzen Oshier finished a narrow second in the mile championship race at the 2011 New Balance Outdoor Nationals Saturday at North Carolina A&T in Greensboro, North Carolina.

Oshier, who was fifth in last week’s Jim Ryun Dream Mile race at the adidas Grand Prix in New York, crossed the finish line in a lifetime best mile time of 4:06.00, a hundredth of a second behind winner Josh Lampron of Mansfield High in Massachusetts (4:05.99).

Boys track and field: O.C.C. distance athlete of the meet: Jantzen Oshier

Trabuco Hills senior Jantzen Oshier was named the distance athlete of the meet Saturday at the 2011 Orange County Championships.

Oshier recorded the best fully automated time 1,600 time in county history (4:04.24) en route to winning his second consecutive 1,600 title at the county meet.

His time is also the best in the U.S. this season and is second in county history, trailing only the 1972 time of former Garden Grove runner Mark Schilling (4:04.0 hand time).

Boys track and field: Oshier blazes to victory at Azusa Pacific Meet of Champions

Trabuco Hills senior Jantzen Oshier earned a chance to compete in one of the nation’s premier distance races with a spectacular effort Saturday night.

Oshier produced a 4:07.78 en route to winning the invitational mile race at the 2011 Adidas Azusa Pacific Meet of Champions Distance Classic.
