Football recruiting: Fountain Valley’s Hinnant, Mission Viejo’s Bunte ink with Cal

Fountain Valley offensive lineman J.D. Hinnant signed today with Cal, his father, Blake, confirmed.

Hinnant is recovering well after a serious car accident in the fall.

In other Cal recruiting news, Mission Viejo’s Erik Bunte also signed with the Bears.

Football recruiting: Fountain Valley’s Hinnant commits to Cal

Fountain Valley all-league offensive lineman J.D. Hinnant (6-4, 265) has committed to Cal, he said Thursday.

The senior had narrowed his final picks to Cal, Duke and Oregon.

“I’m super excited,” Hinnant of his commitment to Cal and new coach, Sonny Dykes. “I talked talked to Coach Dykes and Coach (Tony) Franklin this morning. After I talked to them, I called back a little bit later and said I committed. I thought it would be the best fit for me.”

Hinnant expressed enthusiasm for the university, the Berkeley area and the Golden Bears’ new coaching staff and high-energy offensive philosophy. He plans to take his official recruiting trip to Cal on Jan. 25.

Hinnant also is recovering well from a serious car accident Nov. 2.

Footbal: Fountain Valley’s Hinnant in stable condition, preparing to leave ICU

Fountain Valley standout offensive lineman J.D. Hinnant (6-5, 260), who was injured in a car accident on Friday before the Barons’ season-finale against Marina, is in stable condition in an intensive care unit in Orange, his father, Blake, said in a text late Saturday.

“He is conscious but sleeping a lot,” Blake wrote. “Transfer has been submitted to get him out of the ICU.”

Hinnant suffered a fractured pelvis and tailbone and a small head contusion, his father said.

“Thankfully no spinal, neck or internal injuries,” Blake wrote. “Hoping to avoid surgery.”

Hinnant is one of Orange County’s top recruits for the class of 2013. He received offers from most of the Pac-12 before narrowing his picks to Cal, Oregon, Duke and Nebraska.

Football recruiting: Fountain Valley’s Hinnant narrows college choices

Fountain Valley offensive lineman J.D. Hinnant (6-5, 260) – Orange County’s top uncommitted football recruit in the class of 2013 — has narrowed his college choices to four, he said Monday after the Barons’ morning practice.

Hinnant said his top-four college destinations are: Cal, Oregon, Duke and Nebraska.

The Barons’ two-way lineman has set an official recruiting trip to Nebraska on Sept. 29, the date of the Cornhuskers’ Big Ten opener against visiting Wisconsin on ABC.

Hinnant also is could make an official visit Oregon on Sept. 8, the date of the Ducks’ home game against Fresno State.

Football recruiting: Fountain Valley’s Hinnant collects eighth Pac-12 offer (update)

Fountain Valley senior-to-be offensive lineman J.D. Hinnant — the county’s fourth-ranked recruit for the class of 2013 — has picked up his eighth Pac-12 offer. Hinnant was offered by Arizona on Monday.

Hinnant also has Pac-12 offers from Arizona State, Washington, Washington State, Cal, Oregon, Oregon State and Colorado. Nebraska also has offered.

Fountain Valley junior offensive lineman J.D. Hinnant has been offered by Nebraska, his father, Blake, reports.

The Cornhuskers watched Hinnant practice on Monday, and quickly offered a scholarship to the red-hot Pac-12 recruit.

Hinnant has been offered by Washington as an offensive/defensive lineman, his father, Blake, reports.

Hinnant, one of the hottest recruits in Orange County, now has Pac-12 offers from Washington, Arizona State, Cal, Oregon, Oregon State and Washington State.

Football recruiting: Fountain Valley’s Hinnant adds two more Pac-12 offers

Fountain Valley junior offensive lineman J.D. Hinnant (6-5, 260) has picked up three more scholarships offers so far this week, including a pair from the Pac-12 Conference.

Earlier tonight, he was offered by Arizona State. On Monday, Cal and Duke offered. Yes, not a bad two days on the recruiting front.

Hinnant now has Pac-12 offers from Oregon, Oregon State, Washington State, Cal and Arizona State. He also has been offered by San Diego State.

He is ninth in the OCVarsity recruiting rankings for 2013.

Fountain Valley’s junior offensive lineman was offered by Oregon, his father, Blake, reports.

The offer arrived on the heels of Hinnant’s solid outing at the Nike Football Training Camp at Cerritos College.

Hinnant now has Pac-12 offers from Oregon State and Washington State along with San Diego State.
