There are a ton of Orange County products playing women’s collegiate water polo. In February, reader Sue Natalizio supplied the list below of some 60 players with Orange County ties who were set to play in the UC Irvine Invitational that month.

And all season, several former O.C. high school standouts have played well or captured player of the week honors from their conferences. Here’s a few highlights:

* On March 31, former Dana Hills left-hander Colleen McNaught, left, scored a game-tying goal in the fourth period to help Indiana beat Michigan, 8-7, in the Big Ten. She is second on the team in goals (41) and first in assists (43 ).

* Former Register player of the year Kaleigh Gilchrist (Newport Harbor) was the MPSF player of the week for USC on April 2. Former El Toro goalie Kelly Campoli won the award for San Diego State on March 19. And former Corona del Mar-goalie Kate Baldoni claimed the award for Stanford on Feb. 6. Read the rest of this entry »
