La Mirada tested the perennial Freeway League champion Highlanders, but an Ahmad Avery run in the fourth quarter made the difference, leading the Highlanders to a 23-17 victory. La Habra and San Clemente played what might be the game of the season, and perhaps one of the best of the decade, on Friday night, with the Highlanders pulling out a 29-28 victory in the final seconds.
