Girls tennis: Montez too tough for Christian in final

Orange Lutheran's Kaitlyn Christian's season is over. The Lancers top player lost in the championship match to Pam Montez of La Quinta, 6-0, 6-2.

Girls tennis: Boren and Smith fall in doubles final

The much anticipated showdown between top seed and defending champ Brynn Boren and Kristina Smith of Dana Hills and Sabrina Santamaria and Sarah Lee of Campbell Hall ended in 51 minutes, with Lee and Santamaria winning 6-2, 6-0.

Boren and Smith were trying to become the first pair to repeat since 1979, but made history by reaching their third consecutive doubles final.

Dana Hills' doubles team of Brynn Boren and Kristina Smith are off to a rough start.

Campbell Hall's Sabrina Santamaria and Sarah Lee won, 6-2, in the opening set of the doubles finals.

Orange Lutheran's Kaitlyn Christian has forced a decisive third set in her semifinal match against Lakewood's Stacey Tan. Christian lost the first set 5-7, then won the second set 6-3.

Girls tennis: Christian clawing back

After dropping the first set 5-7 to Lakewood's Stacey Tan, OLu's Kaitlyn Christian leads 4-1 in set two.

Christian lost to Tan in last year's semifinals. Awaiting the winner is La Quinta's Pam Montez, the top seed, who defeated Ontario Christian's Britney Sanders in straight sets.

Dana Hills' Brynn Boren and Kristina Smith have accomplishment what's never been done before.

The Dolphins doubles team defeated Peninsula's Anna Tatsuno and Jenna Glimp 6-1, 6-3, to reach their third straight doubles championship match Friday at the CIF-SS girls tennis individual championships at Seal Beach Tennis Center.

Girls tennis: Three county girls in action today

The girls tennis season concludes today with the semifinals and finals of the CIF-SS girls tennis individual championships, starting at 11 a.m. at Seal Beach Tennis Center.

Check here for updates throughout the day. Then come back this evening for "FryDay" night as the football playoffs continue. I will be heading down to St. Margaret's to work with Dan Albano on tonight's potential record-setting victory for the Tartans.

Dolphins coaches Mark Spearman and Jim Wilson were watching their future play singles against the No. 4 seed Thursday afternoon. Or were they?

Sophomore Joanna Smith eventually fell in three sets to Ontario Christian's Britney Sanders, 3-6, 6-2, 6-4 in the quarterfinals of the CIF-SS singles championships at Seal Beach Tennis Center.
