How I voted on the Orange County boys basketball top 10 today. I am one of the six voters that participate in the Orange County boys basketball weekly poll.
My vote:
Fountain Valley and Golden West Swim Club sprinter Taylor Johnson has signed with San Diego State, the senior said Monday night.
Johnson said she picked San Diego State over Oregon State. She made official recruiting trips to both schools.
Last season, Johnson placed fifth at the CIF Division 1 finals in the 50-yard freestyle with a swift time of 23.84 seconds. She also placed 11th in the 100 freestyle with a 52.58.
Johnson is an excellent get for San Diego State. She could be very fast this spring for Fountain Valley.

Fountain Valley water polo player Kayla Robert, left, and Edison water polo player Abby Oshiro have committed to Long Beach State, their coaches report.
Robert is an excellent get for Long Beach State. She is a 5-foot-10 center who has progressed well with Huntington Beach Water Polo Club. She helped HBWPC captured the 18-and-under title at Junior Olympics during the summer.
Former Fountain Valley and Laguna Hills basketball coach Dave Brown now is coaching in Oregon. Brown collected 526 victories coaching in Orange County.
Jim Harris, left, who coached at Ocean View for 33 years, passed away this past weekend. The tributes to Harris are coming at us in waves.
This one from Dave Brown — former teammate of Harris’ at Long Beach State, a coach who hired Harris at Fountain Valley and later coached against Harris for many years — had to be shared …

Garden Grove League
LOS AMIGOS (4-1, 0-0) VS. GARDEN GROVE (1-4, 0-0)
Where, when: Garden Grove High, Thursday, 7 p.m.
Outlook: Garden Grove won at least a share of the Garden Grove League championship the past three seasons. The Argonauts not only won the league title in 2010, they also won the CIF-Southern Section Southern Division championship. They had last year’s Orange County offensive player of the year, and county male athlete of the year, Josh Webb, but the multi-talented Webb graduated.
Fountain Valley could not solve the Trabuco Hills defense and could not stop Mitchell Simonsen, who ran for 221 yards and three touchdowns, as the Mustangs spoiled the Barons’ Homecoming Game, 28-7, on Friday night. Read the game story.

TRABUCO HILLS (3-1) VS. FOUNTAIN VALLEY (3-1)
Where, when: Huntington Beach High, Friday 7 p.m.
Outlook: Trabuco Hills has played a fairly challenging schedule so far. The Mustangs beat two Pac-5 teams, Newport Harbor and JSerra (OK, JSerra is in the Pac-5’s Trinity League, but the still-growing program likely is a better fit in a lower division), and lost to another, Santa Margarita.
