Esperanza junior Chris Hartig committed to attend UC Santa Barbara on Monday, Aztecs coach Isaac Owens said.
The hitter helped Esperanza to a 7-3 record and a tie for second place in the Sunset League. The Aztecs lost the coin flip and drew the No. 3 seed from the league.
Hartig and teammates travel to face Long Beach Poly on Friday night in the opening round of the CIF-SS Division I playoffs.
Esperanza's senior libero Brian Warnecke has committed to UCLA, Aztecs coach Isaac Owens said in an email.
What happened: The Sailors are still undefeated in league and showed why they are the No. 1 team in the county by defeating the Aztecs 25-14, 34-32, 25-21 in Sunset play Friday night at Esperanza High.
