Former Servite soccer players Nick Echeverry and Devin Guthrie crossed paths Wednesday night at Chapman University as they prepared for their collegiate seasons.
Echeverry, the Friars’ former standout kicker in football, played for Chapman in a scrimmage against Whittier College and Guthrie.
Echeverry is a sophomore while Guthrie is a freshman midfielder who has made Whittier College’s travel team. Whittier opens at Vanguard on Saturday at 7 p.m.
Chapman opens Friday at Fontbonne in Thousand Oaks. Echeverry kicked the winning field in Division II state bowl game in 2009.
