Girls tennis: Los Al winner on games (updated)November 13th, 2008, 4:08 pm by Chris Tobolski, OCVarsity.comLos Alamitos pulled off the upset over El Dorado, winning 78-75 on games after the teams tied on sets at 9 in first round Division II CIF-SS girls tennis action Thursday afternoon at El Dorado High. The Golden Hawks entered as the Century League champs; Los Al was the Sunset League’s third-place team. Los Al plays No. 2 seed Beverly Hills on Saturday. Los Al had lost 3 matches in Sunset League play on games and finished third, its 19-year league championship streak ending. “After losing those, the kids got tougher and tougher,” Los Al coach Debbie Fleming said. Earlier info: Century League champ El Dorado is tied with Los Alamitos at 6 after two rounds of play. The Griffins lead on games at 54-50. The Golden Hawks went in front 4-2 after the first round.
