The top-ranked Aztecs needed to rally to earn their first victory of the season, defeating No. 5 Huntington Beach in four games, 8-25, 25-16, 25-18, 25-20, in nonleague action Tuesday night at Esperanza High.

Esperanza junior Chris Hartig committed to attend UC Santa Barbara on Monday, Aztecs coach Isaac Owens said.
The hitter helped Esperanza to a 7-3 record and a tie for second place in the Sunset League. The Aztecs lost the coin flip and drew the No. 3 seed from the league.
Hartig and teammates travel to face Long Beach Poly on Friday night in the opening round of the CIF-SS Division I playoffs.
