Football: Favreau transfer to Edison approved

Edison quarterback Chase Favreau’s transfer from Mater Dei was approved Tuesday by the CIF-Southern Section and he was ruled eligible for the 2010 season, Chargers football coach Dave White confirmed.

The left-handed junior will likely be the Chargers’ starting quarterback Friday against Long Beach Wilson, White said.

Favreau (No. 7 in the pictture) missed the Chargers’ season-opening game this past Friday night against Artesia.

Outlook: The Chargers moved into the county’s No. 1 spot after Friday’s impressive 23-9 victory over then-No. 1 Servite.

Is it tougher to get to No. 1 or to keep the top ranking?

Football Video: Luke Gane’s inspirational journey

Luke Gane was diagnosed with aplastic anemia before the 2008 season.  He underwent chemotherapy and needed a bone marrow transplant.
