Football recruiting: Edison linebacker commits

Edison linebacker Bryce Campbell has committed to Humboldt State, his father, Gregg, reports.

The senior is expected to sign today – National Signing Day.

Tough Knocks – Edison: Battle for the Bell

In Episode 11 of “Tough Knocks”: Edison plays longtime rival Fountain Valley in the “Bell Game.” The Chargers try to win the big contest for the seventh year in a row and move closer to the Sunset League title.

Tough Knocks – Edison: League of their own

In Episode 8 of “Tough Knocks,” Edison gets a boost from the return of two key players, Derek Baljeu and Nick Masaniai, who had been out with injuries.

The Chargers open play in the Sunset League by winning a crucial game against league rival Los Alamitos.

Tough Knocks – Edison: Learning the hard way

In Episode 6 of “Tough Knocks,” Edison, a newcomer to the “Tough Knocks” program, is getting ready to take on nonleague rival Mater Dei. Two former Monarchs, Chase Favreau and Sedric Hill who are now at Edison, are excited to take on their former teammates and to avenge a loss to Mater Dei in 2010.

After trailing Mater Dei at the half, Edison storms back to take the lead. But a game-winning TD by the Monarchs on the last play of the gameĀ  leaves the Chargers in tears.

Football video: Edison holds off Dana Hills

If you’re a fan of the ‘ol running quarterback, then this game was for you.

Dana Hills QB Trent Mason ran for 139 yards, while his counterpart, Edison’s Chase Favreau, ran for 77. If I do my math correctly, math was my worst subject (stay in school kids!), that amounts to 216 combined yards by two quarterbacks getting their Michael Vick on.

What surprised me the most was Favreau’s rocket arm. If you cut out the last two letters of his name, you get Favre, and I’m telling you the kid has some zip that would make the Wrangler jeans-wearing-son-of-a-gun proud.
