Boys soccer: Tobolski’s 5 items of interest (Player’s Edition)

San Clemente's Bryce John, right. / Paul Bersebach, The Register

Here are some things I’ve been thinking about:

1. Set-piece king?

That’s the question I’m asking of Woodbridge’s Tyler Ortega. The junior midfielder’s accuracy is among the best in the county.

His ability to place the ball creates scoring positions from spots where it wouldn’t for other teams.

Boys soccer: El Toro working through little lull

Most teams would envy the No. 2 Chargers’ (14-1-2) position, loser of just one game but a team that hasn’t hit its standard in league play yet.

El Toro is 1-0-2 to begin Sea View League play, beating Northwood and tying Woodbridge and Trabuco Hills.
