Santa Margarita senior-to-be Beau Hossler holed three birdies on the back nine on Thursday at Congressional Country Club to finish with an even-par 71 in the first round of the AT&T National PGA Tour event at Bethesda, Md.
Hossler, at the request of Woods, was granted a sponsor’s exemption into the AT&T National, which begins Thursday at Congressional Country Club in Bethesda, Md. Woods is the host for this week’s tournament and is also playing in it.
For the first and second rounds, Hossler, 17, has been paired with Kyle Reifers and Billy Hurley III. The threesome will tee off at 5:52 a.m. on Thursday.
Only he’s not going there to be a part of the gallery.
YORBA LINDA – The official rankings might say otherwise, but after playing 18 holes alongside Beau Hossler in the final round of the Trinity League championships, Orange Lutheran junior Blake Barens said he’s convinced he was paired with the best player in the country.
YORBA LINDA – The last time Beau Hossler was here at Yorba Linda Country Club was six years ago when he was 11 and entered the Yorba Linda Invitational, so there wasn’t a whole lot the Santa Margarita junior remembered about the course during Tuesday’s first round of the Trinity League Championship.
After qualifying to play in the U.S. Open last June just weeks after ending his sophomore season at Santa Margarita, Beau Hossler became one of the top prospects in junior golf with offers coming in from across the nation.
