The new O.C. boys basketball top 10 and Steve Fryer’s 11-25 selections might surprise some people, but that’s what happens in the playoffs.

Did anyone think that undefeated Mater Dei would fall from No. 1? No.

But it was going to be interesting to see who the voters in the O.C. media poll put at No. 2 this week after last week’s No. 2 team, Los Alamitos, was eliminated from the playoffs in the second round.

Could the Griffins, who lost by one point in overtime, hold on to their spot?
