But the first-year Patriots’ coach has another important event in his life coming up soon.

Boys lacrosse: Reppert named new coach at Santa Margarita

December 1st, 2011, 11:12 pm by

Brad Reppert has been named new boys varsity lacrosse coach at Santa Margarita, according to Vince Garcia, director of lacrosse at the school.

Reppert has been an assistant coach for the Eagles for the past two seasons.

He played professionally with the Los Angeles Riptide in 2007, the San Francisco Dragons in 2006 and the Anaheim Storm in 2004.

Reppert was a Division I All-American player and captain of his Towson University team in 2002 and a North- South All-Star Selection.

“I am extremely fortunate to be the new head lacrosse coach at Santa Margarita Catholic High School,” he said in a statement. “In getting to know most of the parents, players and staff over the past couple of years, this was an easy decision for me.

“It is imperative that we distinguish a winning culture in the SM lacrosse comunity from the top to the bottom. The Eagles will make some noise this year and achieve our goal to become one of the top programs in Orange County and gain some national recognition.” Read the rest of this entry »

Football: Overtime games in Pacific Coast League this season

October 13th, 2011, 1:22 pm by

The Pacific Coast League football race is expected to be very competitive and in an effort to avoid using coin flips to determine who goes to the CIF playoffs, overtime will be played in the event of a tie.

“If the game ends in a tie, there will be overtime to determine placement in the league standings for the CIF playoffs,” said Northwood coach Rick Curtis.

“The result of the overtime does not affect the record of the teams, however, the result of overtime will help break any ties that may come about between the two teams in the league standings.”

Last season, Woodbridge and Irvine tied for third place, but Woodbridge advanced after winning a coin flip. The overtime is aimed at avoiding a similar scenario, Curtis said.

Even though there would be a winning team in overtime, the game would still go down as a tie for both teams, Curtis said. Read the rest of this entry »
