Tyler Zeigler pitched a shutout, the Chargers’ eighth and his second of the season. Andrew Marian drove in three runs with a bases-loaded triple, and Mike Barnhill and Garrett Donohoe also drove in runs. El Toro finished 25-7, REV 26-4.
El Toro did those three things Coach Mike Gonzales always talks about: good pitching; good defense; and timely hitting. Not bad for a team with only three seniors in the starting lineup.
It is the first CIF baseball championship in school history.

El Toro wins its first CIF baseball championship. The Chargers pretty much dominated a very good REV team tonight at Dodger Stadium.

In the top of the sixth, Jensen walked, and went to second when Fierro walked. Garrett Donohoe singled to left. Jensen scored on Donohoe’s hit, and when the REV LF bobbled the ball, Fierro scored to make it 4-0.

El Toro still has a 2-0 lead.
Tyler Zeigler is pitching well for the Chargers. He has allowed two hits and two walks, and has struck out two.
But that’s a good Redlands East Valley team. The Wildcats have been shut out only once this season, by Redlands in a Citrus Belt League game.

No score. REV had runners on second and third — Chatwood opened the inning with a double to right, a flare that ET RF Austin Fierro dove for, got a glove on but could not hold on, and David Andriese walked. Both advanced a base on a ground out. REV’s Ryan Burcroff grounded out to end the inning.

Dillon Penprase led off with a walk. Nolan Arenado flew out deep to right-center. Penprase stole second. Mike Barnhill struck out swinging. Trevor Jensen hit a hard grounder to the right side, REV second baseman Ryne Sutherland dove to his left to snag it, got up quickly and threw out Jensen for the third out.
