Hi Everyone!
I am really excited to tell you about today’s day because Michigan Softball had an amazing special guest come speak to us. JIM ABBOTT!!
For all of you who don’t know Jim Abbott is a Michigan Baseball Alum as well as a major league baseball pitcher! He played for The California Angels, The Chicago White Sox, Milwuakee Brewers and New York Yankees! What makes him just even better he played despite being born without a right hand!
Jim was in town today and he was able to talk to Michigan Athletic Department, and Hutch asked if he could come talk to us! We all got to practice early and waited for him. Before that we got to watch a little bit of him playing online, and we were absolutely amazed. We were like little kids in a candy shop, we had balls ready to be signed and couldn’t wait!
When he got there he talked about a lot of things but the main idea that stuck out with us was Trust. In playing any sport the key things is trust, not just trusting yourself but your teammates as well. He emphasized saying that at this point in the season we have to trust each other, our coaches, and ourselves because we have put all the work in now, and now is the time we show it off. Another aspect he talked about was how every bit counts. A couple inches on or off the plate can make or break a game, and that goes with hitting or pitching. Every second counts and every movement you make makes a difference on the field.
Jim also had a special presentation and showed us how he caught and threw the ball. Now, we all were taught how to catch, throw, and field with two hands but he had to do it with one. How incredible is that! I am still amazed and in awe on how amazing this is. If you have never a chance a great video to watch about inches is the Al Paccino speech in the
I did a live blog for the Rosary-Norco CIF-SS Division 1 quarterfinal on Thursday at Cal State Fullerton. Here’s how it all went down:
LIVE FROM CAL STATE FULLERTON
I didn’t have to set up the Mobile OCVarsity Media Center today because Rosary is playing defending Division 1 champion Norco at Anderson Family Field at Cal State Fullerton.
Rosary whacked top-seeded Esperanza, 5-3, and outslugged Edison, 15-6, to reach the quarterfinals. Norco beat Oxnard, 3-0, and rallied from a 2-0 deficit to beat Cypress, 3-2, to rech the quarterfinals. The Rosary-Norco winner plays the Pacifica-Orange Lutheran winner in the semifinals on Tuesday.
No more messing around. Let’s get down to business.
Norco, are you ready?
Rosary, are you ready?
LET’S GET IT ON!!!!
Behind the arm of Kaylee Carlson, Pacifica went on to defeat Orange Lutheran 13-1. Carlson pitched a complete game only allowing one run. Nicole DeWitt finished 3-3 with two home runs.

Hey There!!!
Welcome back! So today was a beautiful day in Ann Arbor, Michigan and it was a wonderful day for some softball! Today’s practice went very well and we were all really excited to be out on Alumni Field! Only 21 girls get to wear the block M and I am proud that I am one of those girls!
Today, I am going to talk about what it’s like to be so far away from home! Of course, I get the college experience and being on my own but I definitely miss my family. We have 5 girls from Southern California on the team and quite a few from out of state, and we are very fortunate to have our families come visit us when they can. Many don’t get to come out as much as we like but when they do, it is always a blast, and most of the time during postseason! The best time of the year!
This past weekend we had a lot of family come out for Regionals! Sophomore from Corona, CA., Lauren Sweet’s sister came out to watch, as well as my own sister! Jackie Sweet has been to AA (Ann Arbor) before but my sister, Kylie has not. And neither of them have seen us play on Alumni Field! They of course loved watching us and were there to soak it all in and take pictures for our wonderful parents! While they were out here we also hung out, watched movies, had a bonfire, and just enjoyed our sisters being here. My sister and I are also going to go out to dinner this weekend before she leaves to Blue Tractor, a really good BBQ restaurant in Downtown AA! I can’t wait to take her there! Definitely a restaurant I suggest to go to if anyone ever comes out here!
But Lauren and I weren’t the only ones with sisters out here, we had many other families come too! They came from Wisconsin, Texas, Georgia, Illinois, and Indiana! Not only do we have the best family but they are also our fans and love us and are all so proud of every single girl out wearing the block M.
