USC loses one, gets another

Linebacker Jerrell Harris signed with Alabama over USC, among others. Harris (Gadsden High, Alabama) is the No. 8 rated linebacker and No. 99 player overall by ESPN.

Defensive end Nick Perry of Mackenzie High in Michigan signed with USC. The No. 10 ranked defensive end by ESPN is the second undecided player to sign with the Trojans today. T.J. Bryant, the second-ranked cornerback from Lincoln High in Florida was the other.

Westminster defensive lineman/tight end Toa Tuitea signed with Arizona State, his brother Calvin confirmed. Calvin said the Sun Devils originally recruited Toa as a lineman, but after the tight end coach saw him on film, he and Coach Dennis Erickson approached Toa about playing tight end.

“Coach Erickson told him, ‘We need you right now at tight end.’” Calvin added that both the ASU defensive coordinator and defensive line coach still like him as a lineman and he could end up playing there. “It’s funny to have the different coaches recruiting against each other.”

Koontz keeps LosAl tradition
