Football recruiting: Tesoro reports five signings, one commitment

Pac-5 member Tesoro is reporting four football signings this morning — three to FCS schools. Here’s the list:

Running back Nate Tago inks with Portland State, safety Nick Crouch signs with Sacramento State, quarterback Matt Adam signs with Indiana State and offensive lineman Clayton Eubank inks with Brown. That’s a solid group of FCS teams in great conferences.

Offensive lineman Aaron Lopiccolo (5-11, 253) has signed with Division II Bentley. Kicker Zach Schottenfeld is headed to Utah as preferred walk-on.

Football recruiting: Santa Margarita’s Stanton makes it official with Big Red

Santa Margarita quarterback Johnny Stanton has signed with Nebraska, the senior confirmed in a text message moments ago.

Stanton, an Elite 11 quarterback, is recovering well after a knee injury ended his season in September. He’s a big-time get for the Cornhuskers.

Football recruiting: Orange Lutheran has five signees

Orange Lutheran’s Chase Dominguez signs a National Letter of Intent to play football for University of Utah.

At a ceremony early Wednesday morning, five Orange Lutheran football players signed.

The list includes: offensive lineman John Lopez signed with UCLA; lineman Colin Sutton with Colorado; long snapper Chase Dominguez signed with Utah.

Linebacker Gunnar Wolfe signed with Valparaiso and Shaun Pisani signed with Briar Cliff University of Iowa.

Football recruiting: Former El Dorado QB signs with Div. II school

Former El Dorado quarterback Travis Avila (5-11, 187) has signed with Division II Colorado Mesa, his father, Dan, reports.

Avila transferred to Ridge High in Fort Collins, Colorado and earned all-state honors this past season.

Colorado Mesa is part of the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.

Football recruiting: El Toro’s Manning signs with Pac-12 school

El Toro quarterback Conner Manning signs his letter of intent to play for Utah.

Record-setting El Toro quarterback Conner Manning has signed this morning with Utah, his family reports.

Manning was The Register’s offensive player of the year as a junior and a first-team All-County pick this past season.

Utah is expected to have a big day in Orange County today. Westminster defensive end Myron Aiava is expected to sign with the Utes around 1 p.m.

Football recruiting: Valencia’s Perez inks with Boise State

Valencia defensive end/outside linebacker Gabriel Perez (6-4, 220) has signed this morning with Boise State, Tigers football coach Mike Marrujo reports.

Perez is an athletic defender who can brings athleticism to the edge.

He is OCVarsity’s No. 17-ranked recruit.

Football recruiting: Mission Viejo’s Redfield makes it official with Irish

Mission Viejo safety Max Redfield, The Register’s top-ranked football recruit and FAB 15 selection, has signed his letter of intent this morning with Notre Dame, the senior confirmed in a text message moments ago.

Redfield (6-2, 195) was a one-time USC commit but now is officially a big get for the Fighting Irish.

His blend of speed and power should make an immediately impact for Notre Dame.

Football recruiting: Woodbridge’s Rusick commits to Cal Poly

Woodbridge defensive end/tight end Zach Rusick has committed to Cal Poly (San Luis Obispo) and will sign his national letter of intent on Wednesday in a lunch-time ceremony, Warrior Coach Rick Gibson said Monday.

The 6-foot-5, 238-pound Rusick will receive a full ride at Cal Poly, Gibson said.

Rusick, a first-team all-Pacific Coast League player, had 38 solo tackles and 13 assisted tackles while earning all-CIF honors.

Swim: Troy sprinter inks with Boise State

Troy and Brea Aquatics club freestyler Katelyn Martin has signed with Boise State, Broncos women’s swim coach Kristin Hill announced.

Martin finished second in the 50-yard freestyle (24.16 seconds) at the CIF-SS Division 2 finals last season.

She was fourth in the 100 freestyle (52.81).
