The Face-Off….championship update

Friday, May 9th, 2008 by Damian Calhoun, OCVarsity.com since 2004

I’m still here at Trabuco Hills High for the girls and boys Southern Section championships. St.Margaret’s girls defeated Palos Verdes, 16-8 to win the title. We’re at halftime in the boys and Foothill leads Palos Verdes, 6-4. Tyler Brown had a hat trick for the Knights in warm-ups.

BASEBALL

JSerra at Mater Dei, 6 p.m.

Orange Lutheran is solidly in first place in the Trinity League, but JSerra and Mater Dei are fighting for the No. 2 spot before the playoffs start. The Monarchs are at home for this one, but the Lions are coming off a nice victory at Santa Margarita and could have some momentum.

GIRLS LACROSSE

No. 4 St. Margaret’s at No. 1 Beckman, at Hicks Canyon Elementary at 4 p.m.

Beckman defeated Aliso Niguel 13-0 in the quarterfinals. St. Margaret’s defeated Tesoro, 11-9. The Patriots and Tartans played earlier in the season with Beckman winning 20-10.

No. 3 Los Alamitos at No. 2 Foothill, 5:30 p.m.

The Knights outscored Mission Viejo 19-12, while the Griffins defeated Trabuco Hills, 20-4.

The winners will advance to county championship Wednesday at 7 p.m. at Trabuco Hills HS.
