Will Matt Barkley win again?

Wednesday, May 21st, 2008 by dalbano

The Orange County Prep Football Player of the Year award will be awarded Thursday night at the player recognition dinner for the Brea Lions Orange County North-South Prep All-Star Football Game.

The all-star game will be played July 11 at Orange Coast College.

The award covers the 2007 season. The winner does not have to be one of the players in the all-star game.

Last year, the award was shared by Servite’s Chris Galippo and Orange Lutheran’s Aaron Corp, both of whom are now at USC.

Return to ocvarsity.com Thursday night for this year’s results.

Orange Lutheran loses CIF track title two days after meet

Monday, May 19th, 2008 by tharmonson

The CIF-Southern Section just announced that a disqualification error Saturday was fixed today, and Crespi of Encino had moved past Orange Lutheran to win the CIF boys Division III track and field championship.

The Lancers had claimed the championship Saturday at Mt. San Antonio College, but the CIF-SS ruled that Crespi’s Mark Watley incorrectly was disqualified in the 400. Paul Castillo, the CIF-SS assistant commissioner who oversees track and field, ruled that a mistake was made.

Watley was reinstated, awarded the 400-meter championship and added enough points to Crespi’s total to give his team the championship, especially since Orange Lutheran lost points in the event when Watley was reinstated.

Crespi finished with 59 points, and Orange Lutheran had 48.
